Getting Over the Hump

Have you ever felt like you just could not make it over a certain hump? Maybe you have a good idea what you want to do in life, but you have no idea how to get started. It seems you are at mid-week or Wednesday of your life and you can't see Friday ever coming. Everything you've dreamed is attainable right there and then there is a fear that seems to take over and make those dreams seem so distant. How do I get over this fear? How can I achieve my dreams and goals? If this resonates with your spirit I want to encourage you. First, I want to tell you that you are not crazy for dreaming the dreams that you've dreamed. If some people knew the very dreams that you have dreamed they would say that you were crazy and even say that you can't do that. Don't listen to the naysayers I say, even if the naysayer is yourself. Anything that is birthed out of your spirit, will not be understood or agreed with by your flesh. In fact your flesh will do all it can for you not to attain the very thing that God desires you to complete. I encourage you to get over the hump, for the hump is the very resistance that will propel you to complete the task. This is just a Psalms 23 moment in your life. Think about a hill and riding a bike over it. The beginning of the hill is arguably the toughest part of the hill. It reflects the valley of a the shadow of death (Psalms 23:4) It is the very start of the resistance to the now uphill battle. It is at the beginning of the hill where many stop and start to walk or turn completely around. For the few that continue to bike, there is something that happens when the top of hump gets in eyesight. There's an adrenaline rush and you can barely feel the burn in your legs anymore. And then you reach the top. At the top of the hump, you realize that the hill that you had to climb is the very same source that will propel you to the finishing line. It is the very place where you recognize that God was with you the entire time and His rod and staff comforts you (Psalms 23:4) and it is He who helped you keep your sanity while getting to the top of the hump. This is the place where you realize that you have a purpose and you had to go through what you went through. While at the top of the hill it is important not to to be in a rush for the downward assent. There are some remarkable things that happen on top of the hill. It is the first place where some people will start to notice you and what God has done through you. When traveling up the hill, it seemed that no one believed that you could make it to the top of the hill. But, it is at the top of the hill where everyone can now see you, no matter what vantage point they have. It is there where they can now start to believe in God for themselves. Yet their perspective would not be the same if they had not saw you going through the pain of climbing the hill to get over the hump. They saw your struggles, but they saw that you did not give up or give in. Now, they can believe in the God that you serve. I encourage you to make it over the hump and continue strong to the finish line.
