Unmasking Assumptions Pt 2

One definition of assumption is: "a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof." Many times our assumptions are made due to our own track record. I could not help, but to think about the woman with the issue of blood (Luke 8:43 - Luke 8:48). This woman had a medical issue with her blood for 12 years and she had spent all of her money with physicians trying to get well. Even with all of the years of not being healed I find it amazing that the she still did place any assumptions or doubt when she touched Jesus. Not only did it take great effort for her to not only get close to Jesus, but also to touch Him. Not only did she touch Him, but she did so without anyone even seeing her, except for Jesus knew. He didn't even feel her physically touch Him, but he felt his virtue leave Him. She did not combine any of her previous experiences with doctors into an assumption of the same outcome happening in her attempt to touch Jesus. Jesus confirms this when he tells her in vs. 48, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace”. A negative assumption includes doubt and doubt is not in faith so we know that a negative assumption was not in this woman's thought process that day. The woman that had the issue with the blood gave us a blueprint on how to unmasked assumptions. In the middle of the blueprint is Jesus Christ!
