He is.....
Sometimes, as a parent, I don't set the best example. I might ask my kids to quiet down, while yelling the request. Or I may express my disappointment about something, without thinking about the grace that was extended to me from God. I am so glad that God is not like us. He does an amazing job with setting the example for us. Even in giving, God set the example by giving His only son as a sacrifice. This was also an example of his love for us as John 3:16 says that "God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life". As if the act of giving an only Son was not enough, God spells out what Love is in 1 Cor 13. Verses 4-8a are very specific in telling what love is and is not. Love...is patient and kind; does not boast; is not arrogant or rude; does not insist on its own way; is not irritable or resentful; does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. And Love never ends. We must remember that God is Love and He embodies what Love is. These are not merely characteristics of love, but they are characteristics of God.
