The Fear of the Lord Pt.3
Proverbs 14:2, Proverbs 14:26-27
The Fear of the Lord is mentioned 3 times (v. 2, 26-27) in Proverbs 14. Growing up, whenever my mom would mention something repeatedly, I knew that it was important. The things of the Bible are of even greater in importance. In this chapter we learn that a person that fears the Lord walks upright. A great example of this is Job who was blameless and upright according to Job 1:1a. Oh, maybe that's why it states that Job feared God and shunned evil in Job 1:1b. What I love most is that you can see Job literally living out this scripture in the book of Job.
Additionally, to fear the Lord there is confidence and there is a fountain of life. This reminds me of Matt 10:39 where Jesus says that the person that loses his life Jesus' sake shall find it. Having the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom to lose ourselves in Him and we will find life, the fountain of life. The fear of the Lord is like the Bible. It's simple, but deep.
