Cut the Ropes!

Acts 27:32 (ESV) - Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the ship's boat and let it go. During Paul's travel to appeal to Caesar for his release, he traveled on a boat that was caught in a storm and God had told Paul that everyone that stayed on the boat would be saved from death. At one point on the trip the soldiers had lowered the smaller boat into the sea looking for a way to escape the tumultuous storm they were in. Paul told them in vs. 31, that unless they stayed in the ship, they can not be saved. At that very moment the men had a choice to make. Either they could continue with their plan or listen to Paul and stay on the ship. One would think that they maybe pulled the boat back on the ship, but I like their choice better. The soldiers cut the ropes to the ship which meant that they no longer had access to it. It's amazing to see how people who did not know God would listen to what the prophets and people of God shared with them, yet there are times that people who know God quickly forget what He says and has said to them. Cutting the rope to me represents cutting any opportunity that exists that would cause us to not follow God. In essence it is cutting away there very temptations that could eventually lead to sin which in the end could lead to death. This is what I believe Jesus partly meant partly in Matthew 5:9 when he says to tear out your right eye if it causes you to sin. What is it that would cause your eye to sin get rid of it. In other words, "Cut the Rope". Please check out the previous post on Acts 27:31 "Stay In the Ship".
